Hi Ray,

Why express mizrax and bo' as east and west? Wouldn't you
rather maintain the active/verbal sense of the Hebrew
wording?

I have no problems with your choice to use future tense in
your English translation because I do think the reference is
to the future. Just for fun, my Eng translation below
attempts to imitate the flexibility of the Hebrew verbal
system that can express a reference to the future with the
verbless clause and the participle.

It seems like your translation may misrepresent the
causation. Do you suppose that the Lord's name being great
will cause incense to be offered, which will then cause His
name to be great? Perhaps an adjustment to the punctuation
would help. (I don't think your punctuation is standard
written English. For that matter maybe mine isn't either
;-) ) Since the first ki is a bit arresting in the
Hebrew, perhaps this can be represented by punctuation that
is arresting as follows:

"From the rising of the sun until its going My Name is great
among the nations--in every place incense is being brought
to my name as well as a pure a pure offering because My Name
is great among the nations..."

I think the first ki in the verse not only enhances the
chiasm of the verse, I also think iot helps refer the verse
back to the previous situation. I have lost that tracking
in my translation. Perhaps I should precede my translation
above with "nevertheless."

Hoping to help,
Bryan
