Hi,
I wonder if anyone would like to comment on this stretch of Ex 4:28-31
which is from Qumran. It's from an article I've been reading. Two levels of
stress are claimed, primary (+) and secondary (*), for this Hebrew that was
either spoken or sung.
Braces ( [] ) indicate lacunae and I hope my transcriptions are clear; I used
' = alef ` = ayin $ = shin c = tsade
------------------------------------------
1 'hr]n 't kl dbry yhwh '[$r
*
2 $lxw w't kl h'tt '$r cwhw wylx m$h[
* * *
3 w'hrn wy's pw 't kl zkny bny y$r'l wydbr
+ * * * + * +
4 'hrn 't kl hdbrym '$r dbr yhwh 'l m[
+ + *
5 wy`]$ h'tt l`yny h`m wym`n
+ * + *
6 ] yhwh 't bni i[
*
Does the stress indicated make sense?
Thanks,
Ian
