Good idea to study the book in this way. But don't suppose that any
book will give you "facts" without their own interpretation of those
facts. In the example given of "perfective and imperfective", Waltke
and O'Connor's interpretation of the facts is highly debatable because
of their rejection of the methodology of discourse analysis. Well,
that's an old argument for this list, but even beginners need to know
that there are no solid "facts" accepted by all in this area.

One other thing--for grammatical features which do multiple duty
(perfective and imperfective especially), at the end of the chapter I did
up a concise outline of the uses of the feature, so I have something like
a mini-handbook with just the facts (different uses of the "tenses,"
"cases," and stems).

The book is easy reading, with enough illustrations near the beginning
that I could read parts of it to my wife (who knows no Hebrew). Enjoy!

Hope this helps,

Mark Joseph
