Bryan,
Ba'al se'ar does not necessarily refer to clothing. See Hobbs and my Reliable
Characters in the Primary History. JSOTSup 1996. I argue that Elijah is a
"lord of
hair" or "hairy man" in contrast to Elisha who is mocked for being bald. I
suspect
that the reference is forward to the other corresponding section of a rather
tight
chiasm in chapters 1 and 2 of II Kings.
