The AIfIA newsletter is published every other week
(pretty much) and features news about what's new with
AIfIA and with our partner sites.

So let's get to the news!

---- WHAT'S NEW WITH AIFIA -- http://www.aifia.org ----

1) AIFIA LAUNCHES EVENT SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
AIFIA¹s event sponsorship program will sponsor two
events dedicated to IA each year, providing financial,
promotional, and logistical support to IA conferences,
seminars and other events. The sponsorship program will
help promote and grow the IA community.
--> APPLY FOR SPONSORSHIP:
http://aifia.org/pg/ia_events_sponsorship.php

2) SURVEY RESULTS: SUPPORTING LOCAL IA GROUPS
Early this month, AIfIA concluded a survey of the IA
community to learn how local groups of information
architects could be supported. The survey results are
now available on the AIfIA website.
--> SEE THE SURVEY RESULTS: http://aifia.org/news/000249.php

-- BOXES AND ARROWS -- http://www.boxesandarrows.com/

Three good recent Boxes and Arrows articles:

1) Examining the Role of De Facto Standards on the Web
Just what are the design practices on the web that have
the highest frequency? And are there design practices
that all (or nearly all) sites employ?
--> http://tinyurl.com/qvdo

2) Learning to Love the Pixel: Exploring the Craft of
Icon Design
Designing web-based enterprise software involves
creating complex artifacts like architecture
wireframes, object models, screen flows, and clickable
prototypes in order to articulate aspects of the online
experience for product stakeholders. But what does
"craft" mean for interaction designers?
--> http://tinyurl.com/qv0y

3) The Devil's in the Wireframes
Wireframes: At once a singular composition and a
collaborative expression, communicating the vision of
both an individual and a team. As a result, they can be
stacked with an enormous amount of detail. Are we
becoming victims of information pollution in our own
wireframes?
--> http://tinyurl.com/qvde
