Seems like upstream wants to go modular after all, so perhaps the
separate spells are what's intended. I wonder how well versions mix.

The immediate fix is to add the self-conflict to qtbase, too.

And in general, the self-conflict issue is not limited to qt5. There,
it could just be avoided by using separate prefixes as qt5 already uses
a separate prefix.

The true solution that Source Mage really needs is proper staging. This
means having a separate view on the filesystem for the builds, where
dispels of self-conflict are recorded. Also, in this separate view, the
actual installs of the new spells have to be recorded and then rolled
out by sorcery into the life system as a block.

Like working with root on LVM and casting on a snapshot which is later
merged, but with some more smartness regarding things in /etc and
whatever else could have changed in the live system while casting in
the background.

Building/installing into a proper stage (including the dispel of the
former thing) is really a must for a source-based distro. We should
stop kidding around without that. So, who has the solution at hand,
including castfs/whatever and pretty sorcery patches? :-/

Alrighty then,

Thomas
