Vancouver Permaculture Network Ongoing Events:

Hands-on Edible Landscaping Project: Learn by doing: very low cost!
H.E.L.P. is an opportunity to learn about Edible Landscaping by doing it.
Design Parties and Work Parties will be held at various residential sites
Design participants will experience a process that involves gathering data,
brainstorming, analysis and design.
If you want to have your site done this way let us know.
At Work Parties we will implement these designs using Permaculture plants
and techniques. Cost is no charge for Work Parties and sliding scale $5 to
$25 for Design Parties. Please note that all events require RSVP. For now,
call Cabot Lyford at 873-9599.

Ecological Living by Design Presentation Series: Learn about thinking
reasonably and being practical when we live in and care for the ecologies
that support us all. Especially of interest to gardeners, underemployed,
house holders, farmers, environmentalists and planners. Some wonderful
practical economic and ecological opportuinities are uncovered that would
benefit most lifestyles. Most evenings will include a short talk, video
and discussion. Some evenings will include slide shows or live songs with
Karla Cummins and others. Watch for announcements on training
nights/workshop days - learning the skills for sustainable living.

4th Wednesdays of each month at La Quena Coffee House 1111 Commercial
Drive 7:15pm, $3 per person (s.s.) support VPN's advertising, upcoming
workshops & more videos.

Starting September 23rd,
1) The Global Gardener (1991)(1) 2 parts 1 hour total: An Introduction to
Permaculture ideas by Bill Mollison, who takes you to his own back yard,
Zimbabwe and India. The second part shows how simple techniques can improve
plant growth in dry areas - we have dry summers!

October 28th
2) The Global Gardener (1991)(2): 2 parts 1 hour total: The introduction to
permaculture by Bill Mollison continues with examples of this kind of
thinking in cool climates and then, in the second part, in urban areas even
an apartment balcony.

November 26th
3) In Danger of Falling Food (1989): 40 min An engaging fun filled
introduction to serious global food secuirity issues and the permaculture
solutions. Bill Mollison tells his own story and demonstrates easy to do
techniques.

January 27th Permaculture in Practice (1997): 50 min This shows 4
projects: a home site, 2 community projects and a most impressive
demonstration at a working 60 acre permaculture farm in England. A simple
video with the project leaders describing their own work in their own
words. Afterwards is Planning Night for Permaculture Network Activists time
to present clear analysis and projects to the network for the following
year.

February 24th
Forest Gardening with Robert Hart (1995): 50min Robert Hart started a
ever growing wave of excitment in agroforestry for home yards called Forest
Gardening. Learn how he did it in his own words and about 2 other examples
of permaculture on the ground in England.
