The administration at Lincoln Center has been very supportive of honey bees at Carrboro High School, Frank Porter Graham, Estes Hills Elementary and McDougle Elementary. The problem that you are encountering is not at Lincoln Center. Individual principals have different perspectives, as do environmental science teachers. Ultimately, you have to convince the principal. They are in charge of their school.

OCBA's demonstration hives have been in place at Carrboro High School since mid-May of 2016. The CHS principal was supportive, the environmental sciences teachers was an activist advocate, as was Dan Schnitzer the CHCCS Sustainability Coordinator at Lincoln Center. The school even has a Bee Club.

Check out the OCBA web site. There are pics from move in Day last May.

No trees or bees were killed in the distribution of this message, but countless electrons were seriously inconvenienced.

You may have a difficult time at this school with just about any project as the current administration there basically says "no" to just about every idea.  In a couple years there may be a new admin and you could retry then would be my suggestion.

Wow that is seriously sad!

They use to have bees back in late 80's & early 90's.

Id say reach out to a senior enviro club or science club. They should help bring this forward.

Never heard saying no to plants. Did they give a reason?

The Chapel Hill High School has stated that they do not want to have bees on their property or to have a pollinator garden on their property. So any advice on how to explain to staff and the Lincoln Center that this really doesn't present a safety issue?

Thanks,
