Please remember that Both Morus alba, white mulberry and Morus rubra, red
mulberry both can have white, red or black fruits. If I remember correctly
Morus nigra black mulberry only has fruits which are black when ripe. Plus
there are hybrids and other species with the same range of fruit colors. If
we care about the species then it has to be keyed out, it's not that easy an
ID. Fruit color alone won't do it. I got all excited about black mulberries
surviving near me and then realized that the person was using fruit color as
an ID so it was probably not Morus nigra, but some sort of mulberry with
black fruit.
