Jim,

I can give a testimonial for Superthrive as well. I also use a liquid
IBA/NAA rooting compound as first choice since I usually have some around to
start cuttings. If I ain't got no rootin' hormone, then I'll soak the
roots of transplants in a Superthrive dilution. I put sugar in the soaking
water, as well. Occasionally I'll add a fungicide.

Steve Herje, Lone Rock, WI USDA zone 3, but I'm giving Zone 3 a last
chance this winter, then I'm a-gonna call my climate a zone 4. I've based
my zone assessment on occasional Xtreeeeem winter lows, when we have
hit -53F. In my eight years in this place I have probably dipped
below -40F/C twice. I've dropped below -30F a couple times, too. And
hit -22F in the first week of April. But I don't have the dry,
continuous -30F temps that would bring me to the frigidity of Jim or Del or
Dean or Berni or good ole Aroostook, ME. So if I don't get a really cold
temp this winter, I'm going to join the ranks of you wussy denizens of zone
4. Stay tuned...

Merry Xmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day and a belated Hanukkah/Chanukah, etc.

.
