I made a neon orange fly sheet and in big black letters on the side I wrote "HORSE"

Thanks, Irv. I use the reflective tack when we're working, but I would like to do is also have something to put on my gelding when he's at camp overnight. I don't want it to be warm necessarily, just something visual, like a sheet or even a fly sheet, in case there are hunters in the area or he gets away in unfamiliar woods. Though, to be honest, he stays pretty close to where we are.

Theres an old  conservation law enforcement saying for hunting season and it says:

We dont call this hunting season anymore,
It's Alcohol, "tobacco" and firearms seizing season

My opinion, ANYONE caught shooting any horse, cow or other with or without reflectors by quote "mistake" during hunting season or out of season is reckless and needs their guns and licenses pulled.  While there are a certain group of "safe" hunters out there, there is another certain group of reckless folks out there that have no business hunting and that give the ENTIRE hunting community a very black eye.  Poachers are notorious for breaking the law.  They dont care where they go, when they go or who might get hurt in the process.  Coming across these guys can get rather nasty.

Getting "caught up in the moment of the hunt" or the moment of the beer and the hunt is no excuse for a hunter to be shooting something they "oops, accidently thought was a deer"  nor does that give them any excuse to be entering land where they are not welcome to retreive.

If your animal has gotten loose, be courteous and ask the landowner first before entering to retrieve.  You could be liable for damages caused by your animal straying and/or its retreival  so dont make the matters or damages any more excessive than they already are when your animal is already in trouble.   Take responsibility for any damages if your animal is at large where it should not be and do the right thing.

Some trust in chariots, and others in horses: but we will always remember the name of the Lord our God.  Psalms 20:7..and the bay went forth,  and sought to go to and fro that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth.  So they walked to and fro through the earth. Zec 6:7
