Those with pack animals often toss in an entire roll of duct tape. ;)

You can take something like a 4-6" piece of cardboard or plastic and wrap a
bunch of duct tape onto that flat rectangle for re-use.

We had a Basic Wilderness First Aid joint training last weekend. Improvising
provides many solutions. One item frequently mentioned was duct tape. There
were a bunch of non-riders there, and I took the opportunity to introduce
them to the wonders and versatility of vet wrap. ;)
