Title: Re: [Market-farming] Speak Out
Marlin and Christine Burkholder are forwarding this alert to you.  Mark sent us more information then is copied here, but...
Two weeks ago (in Richmond, VA at our VBF Conference), a lady recently hired by VA Tech, who favors organics, mentioned the importance of farmers speaking up when USDA has “hearings” such as this.  She said that USDA does listen.

Dear All,

The National Organic Coalition, the Organic Seed Alliance, and other member organizations within the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition are responding to an important but not widely-publicized opportunity to submit comments to the USDA regarding "coexistence" among farmers using different production systems:  organic, conventional non-genetically engineered (non-GMO), and conventional with use of genetically engineered (GMO) crop varieties.  Your participation in this effort is vital. Deadline to submit comments is March 4.  Read on for more information and links to relevant websites.  The following alert is based in large part on alerts issued by National Organic Coalition and Organic Seed Alliance.

Thank you,

Mark Schonbeck
