This is sort of off the topic, but...

when you are starting pepper seeds, do you use any sort of nutrients in your starting mix, or do you transplant soon to a fertilized mix or fertilize 'soon' with a liquid.

Under advice, we've been wetting our starting mix with a cup of fish to 5 gallons of water. We've had amazingly low germ rates this season (with heat mats) and I'm wondering if the fertilized mix is contributing to that.

Which reminds me: what mix do you use?

We've been using vermont compost's mix and are certainly happy about how it grows on.

Thanks
