Potatoes and sweet potatoes are good sources of potassium
too. Here's a useful chart:

http://www.health.gov/dietaryguidelines/dga2005/document/html/appendixB.htm

Looking at this chart, I think it's pretty tough to meet the
recommended amount (4700 mg/day).

Also see
http://www.health.gov/dietaryguidelines/dga2005/document/html/chapter8.htm

which says, in part,

---------------
While salt substitutes containing potassium chloride may be
useful for some individuals, they can be harmful to people
with certain medical conditions. These individuals should
consult a healthcare provider before trying salt
substitutes.
-----------------

I do use a potassium-based salt substitute (carefully and
after checking with my doctor). I find it helpful.

Messing up one's potassium-sodium balance can cause heart
problems (including death) so if anyone wants to use the
salt substitute, they should check with their doc first, and
use it carefully - reading the label to see how many
milligrams of potassium are in a 'serving', and how much
constitutes a serving. A quarter teaspoon of the one I use
has about as much potassium as a banana. I use about that
much in a day.
