Friends -

I've carelessly gone through my farming life believing that temporary farm buildings did not require a building permit. On highly visible leased ground this year, the owner asked me to call townhall before installing A) one of those Amish pre-built sheds and B) a 48ft long hoophouse Turns out, the county would like $50 for each of those. The only edge a farmer has over a city person on 'erecting' a building is that farm buildings to not require a building inspection. (a legacy freedom, I guess)

Is it this way in your county? I feel I've read that temporary structures, as both of these definitely are, are exempt for building permits.

But how is it in your experience?

Thanks -Allan
