Hi,

The connection to the server was made fine through tcp/ip from another
windows machine.
Can I know that the freeTDS configuration is right. ? Once I try to install
the driver using odbcinst -i -d -f /etc/odbcinst.ini, I get the message that
component is not found.

With regards
GIGIN

The point of the telnet command is to ensure that it is possible for
_anything_ to connect via tcp/ip to your instance of SQL Server. Connection
refused says that it is impossible for anything, not just FreeTDS to connect
via tcp/ip.  Two likely culprits are a firewall blocking access and SQL
Server not listening for tcp/ip connections at all.  At the very least before
using FreeTDS to connect, you need to reconfigure 192.168.1.82 until you can
connect via telnet to port 1433.  Once you can connect via tcp/ip, then you
can move onto testing your FreeTDS software/configuration.

When you say "tried connecting", does that mean you tried connecting via
tcp/ip or connected via another method?
