Hi Panos,

freetds db-library *used* to connect to the database "pretending" to be
an odbc connection (it was a little understood bit in the TDS login
packet. Once we understood that bit, we unset it for the dblib and ctlib
connections, viz:

dbproc->tds_socket->option_flag2 &= ~0x02; /* we're not an ODBC driver
*/

in dblib.c...

let me explain a bit. if you look carefully in BOL for SET
ANSI_NULLS...you'll find the folowing:

"The SQL Server ODBC driver and Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
automatically set ANSI_NULLS to ON when connecting."

It's the bit in the login packet that triggers that behaviour...

So...it should be set to OFF for a db-library connection. but you tell
us it isn't...

tip from one in the know: check your stored procedure scripts - there
may be a SET ANSI_NULLS ON at the top of your scripts ;-)

Bill

Hi,

Do you know if the dbsetopt function supports the ansi_nulls option? I
couldn't see anything in the library options for ansi_nulls. I would
like to set it to OFF for my SQL Server connections. I have set it as
OFF on the SQL Server and my database but I think defaults from the type
of connection you have and not from the database.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

Thanks,

Panos
