Jeremy,

I'm afraid I haven't been much help to you yet. I'm puzzled by your
experience. Here're the initial lines from my TDSDUMP log. What does yours
say?

Starting log file for FreeTDS 0.62.dev.20031126
on 2003-11-26 10:35:36 with debug level 99.
names for ISO-8859-1: ISO-8859-1
names for UTF-8: UTF-8
names for UCS-2LE: UCS-2LE
names for UCS-2BE: UCS-2BE
iconv to convert client-side data to the "ISO-8859-1" character set
10:35:36.564793 tds_iconv_info_init: converting "ISO-8859-1"->"UCS-2LE"
10:35:36.565012 tds_iconv_info_init: converting "ISO-8859-1"->"UCS-2LE"
10:35:36.565215 Connecting to 10.80.58.175 port 5200, TDS 7.0.

My build options:

--with-tdsver=7.0
--enable-threadsafe=no
--without-libiconv

We're using different architectures and options, but those things aren't
supposed to matter to tds_iconv_init().
