What distribution are you using?

Red Hat 6.2. It's been in production for over a year now with no problems.

Unfortunately I don't understand this mssql interface to FreeTDS, as
I've always used the sybase interface. Otherwise I'd try to see if I
can make it do something similar on my setup with a different database.

According to their website the sybase functions are aliased to ms-sql functions I'll rewrite it using the sybase functions just in case. I used the ms-sql functions as per a tutorial on phpbuilder.com. Also there appears to be a new version of php out so I'll give that a shot too.

is, nor why PHP is using a length of negative one. Perhaps it was a
variable created by the mssql() extension. We need the help of a PHP
internals hacker, or a reproducer that works for me.

I'll keep working on a reproducer along with the ohter things above. I really hope we can make this work otherwise I will have reformat the drive and install NT on it just so I can get at the database from the web. MS sure knows how to lock you in.
