The tradition I grew up in often used this text to teach that believers
should not
marry unbelievers, this was "unequally yoked." Marriage is nowhere in the
context,
immediate or otherwise. The context would closer be idolatry, or as
mentioned above.
The OT texts cited by Paul also reference idolatry. We often asked that if
this WAS
marriage, then why does Paul tell them to come from them an be separate? Is
he here
advocating to divorce the unbeliever, when in !Cor 7 he tells them to stay?
