We're still checking if it's possible to tape the event and put it online. For those who cannot make it, like Kenneth as well, we can also get you the papers in either printed hardcopy ($100) or CD-Rom ($20). Just a nominal fee, also an attempt not to waste scarce natural resources..

I would like to join but it is a typical work day......
Would there be any online video or things like that?

Thank you, Yahong, and all members of the legal team -- Best of luck for your important work, and I look forward to seeing your discussion draft soon!

As promised at the workshop, I'm extending invitation from our conference "Information Technology and Social Responsibility" to all fans of CC-HK. Please see the conference website at : http://www.com.cuhk.edu.hk/itsr/participants.htm

Registration is free. You may do it online (preferably) or call Li Na our conference secretary. Members of this group should be most interested in Session 3 in the pm of Dec.17 about the digital commons and intellectual property politics. When leaders of the CC-China Mainland team will present, and Rebecca will be our discussant. Others including Charles and myself will also talk.

If you like, we may even have an informal dinner and exchange session members of CC-China Mainland, including Wang Chunyan from Renmin U, whom I just learned was Yahong's former classmate. Again, how small the world is! And I hope to see everyone at this event.

Best,
Jack

A few more words on the legal process... Our two student RAs, Rob and Jerry, had worked extremely hard in the past few months.  They identified all important issues and differences in concepts by carefully studying and comparing the standard CC licence, HK copyright law, and licences of several jurisdictions such as UK, Australia, US and mainland China.  These issues and concepts in turn were thoroughly discussed and debated during our team meeting last week.  we are now working on finalizing the draft.  Hopefully we will make it available by the end of the year for public comment after we get CC international's comments.  Alice and I are working closely on making sure that the licence is in compliance with HK copyright law and the drafting process is right on track.

Thanks for your patience!

Best,

Yahong
