I could not find mention of this ability of gs from a web search, thanks.
I hope gs can also print in reverse numerical order.

Oops ! I should have said gv NOT gs. Sorry !

That explains why I could not find this for gs. But you gave me a good idea.

I can mark all the odd numbered files by adding an a in front of the names, with a five-line script. First file ends in 0.pbm

mv *.pbm a*.pbm
mv *1.pbm b*1.pbm
mv *3.pbm b*3.pbm .....
Or do I need something like 'for i in $1; do $i > ai; done' ?
(Add an a to any file starting in 1, or 3, 5 7 9).

print a*.pbm

Turn over paper, reverse order of sheets depending on printer.

print b*.pbm

How can I print in reverse order without manually rearranging the paper first?
