I agree. But in the NT, although not in the Hebrew Bible, there is regular and clear teaching that this lasting life is not terminated by death but continues into the afterlife. As you suggest, this is not a complete dichotomy from the teaching of the Hebrew Bible, or at least of some strands of it, but it is something which is much more strongly emphasised in the NT.
