I thought pears should ripen off the tree.
Every other variety is supposed to ripen off the tree. Seckles ripen on the
tree--not gritty--I'm still learning after six years when is the best time
to pick but getting better every year...and they are goooood.
Ours are Kieffer, the old standard homestead variety-nothing fancy.
We also have one bartlett, one anjou and one kieffer as well. We're pear
rich, in addition to being apple and blueberry rich.
They better show up...
I hope they do, that's a lot of pears. I'm not thinking about ours yet, but
I'm going to be in the same boat soon. It's always great to have a big
harvest of something, especially when it can vary from year to year, but
then you have to put it up. ;)
