Hey everyone,

With the semester starting up and specialty shows comfortably getting into their groove, everyone should be expecting more consistent updates of what's going on in the specialty show world from here on out!

This week has some awesome things cooking, take a look:

On tonight's Inside Track, relax in the rain to the blissed out sounds of Huerco S's latest release For Those Of You Who Have Never (And Also Those Who Have). Gone are the lo-fi, anxiety-driven beats that comprised his previous work, and replacing it are sounds that are like the following things: warm bath, travel, life changes, empty minded contemplation, not jazz on not a summer's day, spa(ce) music. Kick back, relax, and start your weekend off RIGHT.

Tonight on the New Science Experience, coordinator Tommy M digs through WXYC's library to find the best house and techno cuts to soundtrack your night as tropical storm Hermine passes over Chapel Hill.

Tune in from 8 to 9 PM this Sunday to hear this week's edition of the Backyard BBQ--WXYC's weekly local music segment. This week, DJ Sam H will be focusing on releases from the Asheville-based label Bathetic Records. Expect to hear cuts from artists such as Nest Egg, Angel Olsen, Daniel Bachman, and many many more!

Monday's Outside Track is the final hurrah for a great compilation that's been spending some time in our playbox: The Ladies of Too Slow To Disco, featuring blue eyed soul and AOR from the 70s. Many of the performers on this disc have either been forgotten or their records have been consigned to the dollar bin, but that's doing the women on this disc a disservice. Although there's plenty of cheese, the arrangements are tasteful, the performances are strong, and the result is catchy, pleasant, and sometimes adventurous. Get ready to jam, just not too quickly.
