Dave Soldier (the guy who built the instruments/trained the elephants for the Thai Elephant Orchestra) returns to our airwaves with Yol K'u: Mayan Mountain Music on the Inside Track (where a new record is played in it's entirety). It features Mayan Indian children in San Mateo Ixtatan, Guatemala who perform minimalist repertoire on giant marimbas. How could you not listen to this on Monday at 9pm?

On Friday the Inside Track is back with Ritual-All-7-70, one of several recordings Alan Sondheim and his improvisational group have on ESP-Disk. Their recordings blend free improvisation with electronic experimentation. Tune in at 9pm.

In this week's Thursday Night Feature Pat J and Music Director Jon P turn a retrospective ear back on the music of 2008, dishing out the top records of the past year as voted on by WXYC DJs. 9pm, folks.
