Sunday, 1 p.m.: FREEDOM SONGS on Hell or High Water
Sunday, 8 p.m.: Interview with COLD SIDES on the Backyard BBQ
FREEDOM SONGS on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1-2 p.m.
This week we will feature freedom songs from the Civil Rights Movement.
Tune in to hear renditions of folk songs, work songs and spirituals sung
during protests and marches in Selma, Birmingham and at the March on
Washington in 1963. Featured artists will be the SNCC Freedom Singers,
Odetta, Bernice Johnson Reagon, the Georgia Sea Island Singers, the Selma
Freedom Voices and Mahalia Jackson.
COLD SIDES on the Backyard BBQ, Sunday 8-9 p.m.
Triangle-area group Cold Sides will visit the Backyard BBQ local music
show this week. They have a fresh 12-inch record just released, titled
Perpetual Hypeness Machine, on FrequeNC Records. Listen up to learn more
about this group that changes its approach and setup on a regular basis,
