MENTAL ILLNESS IN MUSIC on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9
p.m.-midnight
Tune in to WXYC for a glimpse of mental illness in music. From Beethoven
to Cole Porter to Kurt Cobain, there's always been those who walk the line
between madness and genius. Listen to how these artists have coped with,
overcome, and celebrated the many ups and downs of mental illness.

ORIGINS OF ROCK & ROLL on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1 p.m.
This week we'll be looking at some of the candidates for the first rock
and roll record, including hits from the '50s when the music emerged on
the national scene, but mainly earlier precursors. Rock and roll has many
roots -- gospel, blues, country -- dating back to the nineteenth century
and before, but the emergence of the genre really began with the social
and economic changes stemming from Second World War.
