OUTLAW COUNTRY on the Thursday Night Feature, Thursday 9 p.m.-midnight
On this week's Thursday Night Feature, gather round your radio to
explore the distinct and influential movement in country music we know
as Outlaw Country. A distinct break from Nashville's produced sound,
these artists (many Texas-based) fused neo-traditonal country music with
rock, soul and r&b's swagger and edge to capture the essence of the
outlaw sound. Tune in for a fun night of tunes from artists such as
Wille Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Waylon Jennings, Kinky Friedman and
more.

BASCOM LAMAR LUNSFORD on Hell or High Water, Sunday 1-2 p.m.
On this week's Hell or High Water - Bascom Lamar Lunsford, minstrel of
the Appalachians. We'll hear ballads and more as recounted by heart
from Lunsford, who traveled his native Appalachians by horse so that he
might visit every last holler and cove and hear every song
or tale.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, "Three Years, Five Months, and Two Days in the
Life of…" on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
Arrested Development's sound was a fusion of soul, hip-hop, pop, blues,
and funk, coupled with politically conscious lyrics dealing with such
topics as poverty, race-relations, violence, and evolution. Their
pinnacle 1992 album, "3 Days, 5 Months, and 2 Days in the Life of..."
has sold over 4 million copies in the decade since its release, yet has
lost none of the biting wit, melodic feeling, or assertiveness rare to
most rap music of its time. As its tenth birthday approaches, this
album, one of the most original and compelling rap albums of the early
nineties, will be commemorated by the gang here at WXYC. Look forward
to hearing hits like "Tennessee," "Mr Wendel," and a remake of Sly and
the Family Stone's "Everyday People."

Timely topics with TODD & BILL on Northern Hemisphere Live,
Sunday 5-7 p.m.
This Sunday NHL's Todd and Bill will host an open show with sundry
topics relating to the current events of the day. Listeners are invited
to call in and participate.
