Thursday 11 a.m.: live interview with SANDIP BURMAN
Friday 9 p.m.: Various Artists, "AFRICAN DRUMS: The Continent of
One-thousand Drums" on the Inside Track

Monday 9 p.m.: CHEATER SLICKS, "Yer Last Record" on the Inside Track

GLENN KOTCHE, "Introducing" on the Inside Track, Wednesday 9 p.m.
Chicago percussionist Glenn Kotche is best known to the outside world as
the drummer for Wilco and Jim O'Rourke's pop band, but in his free time he
records and self-produces solo. This album, his debut under his own name,
is the result of six years of studio work - banging, bowing and generally
tinkering with traditional, junk and salvaged percussion until acutely
developed compositional statements emerge. On Chicago's Locust Music
imprint.

SANDIP BURMAN, live interview, Thursday 11 a.m.
Tabla virtuoso Sandip Burman comes in for a live interview in anticipation
of a free concert Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in UNC-CH's Hanes Art Center
Auditorium. His trio, East Meets Jazz, features tenor saxophonist David
Pietro and guitarist Paul Bollenback. They play traditional Indian
classical music with elements of jazz improvisation. Sandip has performed
with many notable musicians, including Ravi Shankar, Bela Fleck, Al
Dimeola, and Jack DeJohnette.

Various Artists, "AFRICAN DRUMS: The Continent of One-thousand Drums" on
the Inside Track, Friday 9 p.m.
The lastest compilation from the French Air Mail Music label, The
Continent of 1,000 Drums features both solo and ensemble percussion
recordings from 12 African nations. This is definitely worth a listen
even if you think those darned drum circles are sorta obnoxious.

BAD FINGER "No Dice" on the Classic Inside Track, Sunday 2-3 p.m.
Catch Badfinger's second album this week. Discovered by The Beatles in
the late sixties, Badfinger became the jewel in Apple Record's crown after
the Fab Four called it quits in 1969. Produced by Beatles engineer Geoff
Emerick in late 1970, No Dice blends sixties power pop with the raucous
guitar-rock sound of the early seventies. Hit singles like "No Matter
What" and "Without You" clearly made an impression on groups like Big
Star, The Soft Boys, The Posies, and Shoes.

CHEATER SLICKS, "Yer Last Record" on the Inside Track, Monday 9 p.m.
In the grand tradition of dark, gritty and swaggering rock 'n' roll from
the state of Ohio, Columbus' Cheater Slicks figure largely - or ought to.
On this, their seventh album, they continue keeping it real, without
frills or anything else disposable. On In the Red Records.

Friday, 9 p.m.
