While we're on the wiki-kick, and she's mentioned here, a while back I
started an Anya Philips wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anya_Philips.

I figured she was influential enough to deserve some sort of
recognition. Unfortunately I do not know much about her beyond what's on
the page. If anyone knows anything factual about her, feel free to add
it.

Very happy to see the Bloods page on mySpace! A highly underrated
band...

Hi all you typical girls n guys-

A Toone here. waving to Dee, Adele, Jim F., Barbara
Gogan!?, Larry-bob and any other folks I might know.

By popular demand, and after some discussion w/ Adele,
I've finally created a Bloods mySpace page:
http://www.myspace.com/thebloodsny

Please friend us and tell your typical friends. I put
up Blue Chevrolet, one of the long lost live in berlin
Venus Weltklang tracks, 2 from The Born In Flames
soundtrack and our single "Button-up". Have unearthed
a few more live treasures, like some live at the pep
lounge and I think cb's or the mudd. (Dan, this is
what I was meant to send you eons ago. long story, yes
it involves a girl...two actually ;). shut up.)

Enjoy!
yrs toonely

PS I remember Ruth. Also Anya Phillips.

Re: Ruth Polsky's wikipedia page:

I take umbrage with the statement/rumor that George Scott killed
himself.
Seemingly, and/or blatantly self-destructive behavior still does not
necessarily equate with intentional suicide.
Furthermore, I don't think that Ruth was, as implicated, a catalyst.
But--I didn't know him for very long--or, for that matter, so very
well--so,
whomever else might want to chime in--please go on....

Also--prudos to you for putting Polsky up on the net. I am unclear about
her
place in time, and in music--but, I certainly remember her--especially a
lunch she arranged at her apt. on W. Houston in '79 or '80 for her,
myself
and Louise Grief; because, she told us, she felt we were the women in a
field of men booking bands at that time. She made a tuna casserole and
we
talked.
I'll dig out my journal and see if there is anything worth re-telling.

re: George Scott

I'm new to this site so I don't know if my response
will actually appear in a thread or just back to you
Hilary... but I was very close to George Scott, who
was my bandmate in the Contortions. I don't believe
George killed himself intentionally. He died of a
heroin overdose, most likely through mixing with pills
and booze. We were all garbage heads in those days,
and very reckless. It shocked us all deeply, since he
was
so young. But very wild... he and I would dive into
the audience from many a stage to beat up the people
who James Chance was attacking... those who had the
nerve to attack back, that is! Hope that clears it up.

Ok, I've noted your opinions on the page.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_Polsky

Who is Louise Grief?

Can we say what year Ruth started booking ? What she did before? Her
birthday?
