Dear freshmeat.net subscriber,

barsnick just announced version 6u17 of Sun Java Platform, Standard Edition
on freshmeat.net.

The changes are as follows:

Several security vulnerabilities, reported as Sun Alerts 269868, 269869,
269870,
270474, 270475, and 270476, were fixed. Among these are buffer and integer
overflows which could lead to privilege escalations. An issue in the JRE
Deployment Toolkit could allow remote code execution. Digital signatures could
be forged through a weakness in HMAC digests. Several other bugs were fixed.
Furthermore, two new root certificates were added. Olson time zone data was
updated to version 2007k.
