Sweet job so far Neal. I do think these things need worked out eventually,
however.
1. Off of a clean install from the March ISO the /etc/sysconfig directory
doesn't exist. Unless this has been added in a newer ISO, the directory
needs to be created by the networking component, particularly if "install
from scratch" is selected.
2. When building the networking device files, there should be short
descriptions of the purposes of the variables at the bottom similar to the
rest of Sorcery. It is not at all obvious that MODE is the variable that
chooses static or dynamic IP configuration.
3. There's no checking of the presence of the dhcpcd spell. Optional
dependency maybe?
4. There is no handling of pcmcia-cs yet. Are we going to let the scripts
that come with pcmcia-cs handle that interface for us or are we going to
redo them in our current style?
5. Module handling is quite dumb. Those of us with drivers built into the
kernel have to comment out all the checks for the modules for the script to
even do anything. Maybe test for MODULE=kernel_driver or some such value to
skip the modprobes.
6. Some of us on badly asymmetric connections (residential cable modems)
use iproute2 to keep things responsive. Any chance of getting a structure
in place for external scripts to be run on a successful interface start?
7. Why bother doing
stop)
echo $0ping interface
anymore? There's no chance that the echo line will be run with $0==start.
It hurts readability.
