SHOW_PATH=0 is indeed confusing, I used the GAZE_VERBOSE way, even though it
is
not natural. I thought maybe there was a good reason for it.

Why is the second paragraph a waste? It first sets one var and then resets it
with a function which needs the just set var as a parameter. If I used an if/
else, I would just duplicate code.

Good point in part 3.
