Summary: Validate command line arguments before asking for root
password
Product: Sorcery
Version: Devel
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: Feature Request
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: evraire AT tuwg.com
I think it would be nice if the command line arguments were validated before
prompting the user for the root password. Otherwise a user is prompted for
the
root password only to see the help information. For example, as a non-root,
try
the following:
cast --black
Obviously that option doesn't exist. What happens is cast will prompt you for
the root user, show you the usage agreement then drop you back to the prompt
as
a regular user. It's a little annoying, when I could have gotten the same
information without using the root password. It also means I have to enter
the
root password a second time (assuming I get it right the next time).
Please let me know if I'm not making myself clear enough. In any case, this
is
a "nice-to-have" change, there's no rush.
