Summary: installing from a cache tarball
Product: Sorcery
Version: Feature Request
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Unknown
AssignedTo: sm-sorcery-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: hgreig AT bigpond.net.au
specifically for my work on the ISO, but also useful for sysadmins would be
sorcery (cast -b maybe) being able to install (an update) without compilation,
just by unpacking the cache tarball from /var/cache/sorcery.
It would need to rerun the xinetd and init.d queries and probably also run
POST_INSTALL too, to be completely compatible with the source compiled
install.
bug#4534 would need to be fixed, or it would be possible to install "amd"
binaries on "intel" architecture (and vice versa).
the depends of the spell would then need to be stored inside the tarball, so
the
system depends were updated too.
