It's not likely that xdelta will be removed from sorcery any time soon. We
still hold out hope to get it's usage back into the mainstream (which is more
liekly now that we have mirrors). It is complely reasonable for Benoit to
want
to keep the ISO as close to a normal functioning SMGL system. The more
difference there is from a normal system, the more unexpected problems (both
now and in a couple of months when something in sorcery changes) we will
have,
and the more difficult it is to make a new iso from an existing system (which
I
believe is how benoit made the 0.7 series, with a chroot).

That said, no spells currently use xdelta and no one is working on them. How
big is glib + xdelta? 5MB? It's up to Benoit to decide. He is the one who has
actualy made these ISOs and knows what is necessary to maintain them to
release
new versions. There's a reason he's lasted this long as ISO lead... I assume
it's because he has found a good way of making ISOs and maintaining them.
Trust
his judgment that it's better to leave it in until it's not in sorcery
anymore.
