- Subject: [SM-Grimoire] prolifering *-cvs spells
- Date: Tue, 09 Dec 2003 10:08:40 +0800
First of all I apologize in breaking the thread.
After reading all the mails and issues about cvs spells,
I think that the besto solution is Hamish's idea, composite
spells. This solution, not only is going to solve the *-cvs
spells problem. Also will reduce the four grimoires of the
CODEX in only TWO (including z-rejected spells).
Duane's idea is excelent.

Alternatively, the top-level files (BUILD,DEPENDS,DETAILS)
could be in a "default" subdirectory.
So when you "cast gimp" it will cast the default spell
If you "cast gimp.cvs" is will cast the cvs spell
Similarly for "devel", "test" and "bin". Also "devel"
could be used for new spells that aren't yet in any
actual grimoire. I think Duane's idea of "default spell"
is the currently stable version of that such spell.
Also, working with composite spells. Not only will reduce the
grimoires in the CODEX, allowing a user (mage) to cast the
preffered version of the spell.
Thinking in a future, maybe for SMGL 1.0iso. Composite spells
could be more useful. Allowing a mage (user) to scribe his/her
personal grimoire with the sorcery scribbler command.
I know is a lot of work for gurus, specially for the Sorcery gurus,
but maybe in a future could work better than now.
