I think we are an exception here, we *do* wish to rebuild glibc and all the
dependant spells using the current kernel headers , so we *can* take
advantage of the latest and greatest features. We aren't just booting the
fresh kernel on an old system.
Given time I think
a) project developers will start a transition towards fully supporting the
2.6
headers we wish to take advantage of, not just using the backwards
compatibility of the 2.6 kernel
b) kernel headers will stabilise further, making it simpler for other
projects
to support them.

I am in favour of still copying the headers after a successful cast of glibc
(as was discussed last week).I think we deal with projects not yet supporting
2.6 headers one at a time, when we find them (probably with the mount --bind
suggestion). We can alert the project authors everytime we find a problem,
and eventually all the problems will be solved.

I am certain in the future it won't be necessary to use outdated headers from
the 2.4 tree to compile user-space programs (that is just too silly to think
about), so we should start now what we intend to do in the future.
