Alright guys, can we stop this incessant naggling?

For changing the name: I vote no
Reason: devel could easily mean, "for developers", and changing names just
wastes our time in updating scripts, explaining to people, etc. I'd rather
have
our time devoted to fixing /bugs/ than yacking about things such as this.
Once
we have the majority of bugs fixed (I remember when I was fixing a lot of bugs
to keep it under 100, now we're over 300!), then we can blab all we want about
unimportant details (IMHO) such as this.

For publishing devel grimoire: If it'll shut this stupid thread subject up,
then
still no.
Reason: I'm tired of hearing "reasons" why we should publish the devel
grimoire
when Hamish and I (and others) have posted the reasons why we chose to remove
it
from the public and that we're planning on allowing CVS access when we have
time. We have explained this countless times, as well as explaining that the
only changes in devel which don't propogate to test are changes which are
/very/
likely to break someone's system. Most people think of 'bleeding edge' as the
latest stable release of the software (sometimes of the devel branch of
software, which we also cater to) and which /may/ break they're system, not
software which is /very/ likely (and probably did on the developer's system)
break things.

If people (it seems only a few) have such a problem with this change we did,
why
didn't you speak up when we were talking about it (yes, I know, this has
already
been mentioned, but it's as though people were saying, "I don't like this
President, I never did, and now that he's in power I want him out. Vote?
No, I
didn't vote, nor did any of my friends whom think the same, but that doesn't
matter, we have an opinion and we're voicing it now, after the decision has
already been made.")?

Now, I'd like to propose the following: Anyone whom wants access to the devel
grimoire help us get CVS up and running and quit wasting our time with
complaints. This is volunteer effort, and some of us are short on time and we
have a lot of bugs (anyone notice that I keep referring to all our bugs?) that
need fixing. We are /planning/ on getting access to devel ready for people
whom
truly want it, but we don't want it published for reasons discussed earlier
(we
changed the layout around to clean things up and provide a more stable system,
we don't want people whom don't pay attention to the lists/IRC [and there are
lots of users whom don't for any project] to get slammed if they were running
devel because test and stable were so out-of-date. That's one reason why we
don't publish devel to codex.sourcemage.org).

Oh, and another thing, enough with this conspiracy nonsense. It's fine if
we're
joking around about the Eric Conspiracy[0], but it's another to actually
believe
(if you do, if you're just making a joke, it didn't seem that way) there's a
conspiracy around here. We've been /very/ open about what we're doing (one
possible way I've been thinking we could be more open is setup a Perforce
list,
where all the Perforce e-mails go there and people can subscribe to that to
see
what's going on as well), we post everything to the list, there are no secret
meetings, etc.

I think that's enough for now, cheers,

-sandalle
