I'm not sure, but I'm of the school where everything that can be a module,
should be (kinda the GNU/HURD approach ;)).

Compiling into the kernel /may/ even give you some speed compared to compiling
as a module, but I haven't done any testing nor have I seen testing done for
this, but it would be /safer/ to do so.
