So /that's/ what is happening on my laptop! I couldn't figure it out,
recasting
linux, manually compiling linux, all for naught. Finally compiled what I
needed
into the kernel instead of as modules. When I get home, I'll recast
module-init-tools and then linux and see if it fixes my conundrum.
Ahh, the joys of living on the edge. :)
