Hi!
I'm one of those people you mention. I think it was Tony who posted a
workaround, involving multiple grimoires and symlinks? That workaround will
achieve the same thing since security fixes get trickled down quickly to test
and stable (ie: similar to soft holds) whereas any spell currently put on
hold won't get updated no matter what as I understand it (ie: hard hold).
My personal problem with holding a spell is that I don't want any of my
spells to get too far behind (otherwise you eventually face a major upgrade,
and then you're just asking for trouble), I just want to update them when I'm
sure the update will go well. Because of this, I've never used holding nor
do I think I will.
Anyway, just my two cents... others may feel differently, or may have other
needs not addressed by Tony's trick that would appreciate this new idea.
