If you're on devel grimoire, please try the latest in an hour or so. The change is in CVS.

By default grep's configure sets --enable-perl-regexp, which looks for
pcre. I didn't realize this (pcre wasn't among the original spells) until
after grep had been rebuilt with pcre present and therefore dynamically
linked against libpcre.so. When I dispelled pcre grep was dead, and
therefore so was just about every script in the system.
We need to put --disable-perl-regexp in grep's BUILD and maybe make pcre an
optional dependency for grep. Or we could make it a required dependency and
add it to basesystem.
