As Jon has said several times, this has been fixed in the latest sorcery.

To add your first user you should do 'smbpasswd -a <username>' and this
_should_ create the file, but if not, then this is a bug. If not, please
create a bug report for the samba spell and ask the maintainer to create
any missing files that you find.
