I actually didn't /miss/ that point. I just didnt discuss it in email,
instead talking w/ bob about it on irc.

If someone who normally uses p4 wants to assist a cvs user, they must do so
via cvs. If someone using cvs wants to assist a p4 user, they could easily
grab the latest from the person they are assisting, from a p4 web interface
(which we /can/ do) or from the tarball. They can upload their changes into
cvs to have them synced over (presumably), or just email them to eric, who
has been handling submitted tarballs from non-p4/non-cvs people anyway.
Obviously we hope emailing eric will be a last resort.

There is no easy way to /sync/ a p4 and cvs server in both directions. The
whole reason p4 is in use is because cvs doesnt have the ability to make the
changes neccessary in anything close to a reasonable manner. Thus a sync
script is pretty much pointless.. it takes away any advantage p4 had in the
first place.

The current solution will have to stand, until the grimoire team leader sees
a free solution with the same ease of use that p4 offers. Tmeans it's eric's
decision, and he has made his decision clear. I choose not to override that
decision, because it isn't worth it. Eric knows that a free software
solution is preferred, and I am sure that should one ever become available,
he will take the initiative and switch. Until then, this is how it is.
