For me, the process is simplier because I maintain most
of the spells in my section myself, and I have no
choice but to be active regarding the spells that I
depend on from other sections. I imagine guys with 100
spells a section do not envision themselves maintaining
every freaking one of them.

I have one suggestion, I don't know how it's going to
fly by everyone, and we still need EricS back from
vacation, but... For *existing* spells, or maybe just
for version/URL updates, would it be better to change
maintenance policy to allow all gurus to update spells
in every section? Now that CVS is here, I guess it's
not a huge deal to setup separate mail-on-commit lists
for each section, thus making sure guru gets notified
that some bloody bastard is tampering with his dearest
files.

What do you guys think?
