It is my understanding that there are 4 kinds of dependancies...
required depends, optional depends, services, and requires. alsa uses
services. The theory is that one of a number of spells can provide a
service... so it's not easily checked... except that the spell that
needs a service fails it's check :/ That said, the checks aren't
impossible.
I imagine all this checking and more will be in before 1.0.
