Summary: basesystem chroot needs /etc cleaned properly
Product: Codex
Version: stable grimoire
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: Unknown
AssignedTo: sm-grimoire-bugs AT lists.ibiblio.org
ReportedBy: flux AT sourcemage.org

It seems that the basesystem chroot is generated by simply doing sorcery
updates inside of it, rather than recreating it fresh each time. This presents
problems: sorcery doesn't touch /etc, and rightfully so. However, if this
method is to continue to be used to update the chroots, then someone needs to
go through etc and clean things up. There is *at least* a known problem with
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, which includes Xen devices and
subsequently remaps eth0 to eth5. I am sure there are other errors, but I
don't
remember them offhand. Might I suggest that to avoid any problems the chroot
be
generated cleanly each time instead?
